I specialise in Old town and new town victorian and GEORGIAN railings, gates, external staircases.

Nick and Chris did a great job

Nick and Chris did a great job. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to properly maintain their railings. As well as a very thorough preparation job, burning, sanding and priming, an essential pre-requisite for a great job, Nick introduced me to a blacksmith to carry out the necessary repair work before final painting 0f the railing.
This process is not the cheapest approach but it is by far a best value approach.

After getting the "Nick treatment" our railings must be the best in the street - the amount of care and dedication with which Nick stripped down and restored our Georgian railings in a conservation area was second to none. And the nicest of persons, too!

from no hope to 3 georgian ARTIFACTS

I was amazed to find 3 original Georgian floral inserts beneath a mountain of filler and old bolts. I advised the client to expect the worst as well as a blacksmith bill. How delighted I was to be wrong .....as 3 original Georgian artifacts were revealed in terrific condition.

This was a very rare find and highlights my specialist skills bringing the detail back from the Georgian era.

HUMIDITY PAINT TEST - 1 YEAR ON

I SPEND EVERY SECOND OF MY DAY THINKING ABOUT HUMIDITY AND WHEN WOULD BE THE PERFECT TIME TO PAINT.

IN THIS EXPERIMENT, I DECIDED TO PAINT IN THE WORST CONDITIONS TO CONDUCT THE MOST RIGOROUS OF TESTS. THE HUMIDITY WAS EXTREMELY HIGH. IT WAS ALSO RAINING WITH 40MPH WINDS. TO TOP IT OFF, I THREW WATER AND GERMAN BEER AT THE PAINT.

IN THE FIRST PHOTO BENEATH, THINGS DO NOT LOOK TOO BAD, BUT THE HORROR OF A BAD PAINT JOB APPEARS OVER TIME. MUCH LIKE A TRAUMA IN CHILDHOOD, THE SCARS REMAIN AND BECOME OBVIOUS LATER.

FAST FORWARD 1 YEAR AND THE RESULT IS REMARKABLE. IN THE SECOND PHOTO, THE GLOSS HAS VANISHED AND THE PAINT APPEARS ROUGH TO TOUCH, INDENTED WITH RIDGES, UNATTRACTIVE.

LOok closely aS history reveals itself. When this was last painted, ‘Bridge over Troubled wateR’ would have been playing on the radio.
